Projects

We have created very simple projects to go along with your own classroom activities so that students and teachers with different skill levels can participate. Here is a brief overview of the activities for The Wild Weather Project:

  • Participating Classrooms will submit background information about themselves and their region(Submit 1 per classroom on the project blog)

*Name of School, Classroom and Teacher
    *Information about your region
*What kind of weather is your region known for
*Information about your school and classroom
    *Any other interesting information

  • Keep a weather chart - Part of the Final project
    (Submit 1 per classroom)

  • Collect and share daily temperatures from your region - Part of the Final Project (Submit 1 per classroom)

  • Collect and share weather pictures taken in your region. Please paste picture in a Word document and include the date and a caption. These can be submitted though our DropBoks. This will be an ongoing activity that will start April 1st and end April (Please submit a least one 1 during project)

  • Have groups of students create one of the following- Weather Safety Flyer/Poster, Safety Podcast, Podcast Weather Report, Safety video, Website, Wiki, Blog or Weather Poem
(These should be group projects and please share 2 per classroom during our final video conference)

  • We are pleased to announce that Mark Bogner, the Assistant Chief Meteorologist for KSN
television will be joining our The Wild Weather Project! We are also planning a video conference with Mr. Bogner so students can ask him questions LIVE! More details coming soon!

  • Final Project Reflection - What did you learn from your
data? (Submit 1 per classroom on the project blog)

We have provided a timeline, activity pages, and web links to help make this project painless. We would also like to encourage you and your students to create your own ideas to help make the project even more exciting and successful. We also welcome suggestions to help make this project grow.
